Priyanka Chopra stars in Nirav Modi’s 2017 campaign

Indian jewelry brand Nirav Modi unveils its latest campaign starring actress Priyanka Chopra and British model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Photographer Patrick Demarchelier captures the black and white portraits. In one image, Priyanka shines wearing the sparkling Emerald Waterfall Necklace. And in another, Rosie gets her closeup wearing a dazzling ring.

“Internationally acclaimed Indian actress, Priyanka Chopra and English actress and model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, represent a confluence of East and West, and reflect our ethos of marrying India’s intimate, deep-rooted relationship and know-how of jewelry with a Western sensibility,” Nirav Modi says in a statement to WWD.

Featuring multitude of bag designs ranging from smooth structured bags to intrecciato woven ones, the Resort 2018 Ad Campaign is a celebration of diversity. There are however two bags which shone the brightest thus catching our eyes and attention. First off the chart would be this pink candy colored flap bag. This bag boasts of Bottega Veneta’s signature intrecciato woven leather which quite resembles that of a woven basket. Aside from the leather, you would also notice the different stitches placed in the flap and on the front body for an added element of femininity. This bag also boasts of a chained shoulder strap so you can easily transition it from shoulder to cross body carrying.

Another style stunning bag which appealed to our fancy would be this black structured bag in smooth leather. If you take a closer look, you’ll notice that its sides are in an intrecciato woven fashion to keep things interesting. It has a handle for hand carrying and a shoulder strap for shoulder and across the body carrying. It also features a gold-tone clasp to finish off its look.

Google Duetto, and you’ll find that its English translation is Duet, with its Latin origin being Two. Which is pretty odd, because this bag is just one bag – a new one in fact from Parisian label Givenchy. What’s ‘two’ about it then? Well, it could actually be referring to the dual complementary colour schemes the Duetto comes in, where colours like Caramel, Blue, Pink, Red, or Yellow are combined to great effect. Or it could be due to the fact that there are two compartments on the inside. Then it could be the fact that there are both grained and smooth calfskin leathers used on the same bag, grained for the body, smooth for the flap. Your guess is as good as mine.

And if you find the flap familiar, you’re right. Its triangular flap is actually drawn from the Antigona, with the label’s logo printed near the pointed edge. Inside, you’ll find sufficient space for your everyday essentials like the phone, a compact wallet and even those sunglasses to counter our ongoing heat wave. When you’re done, just snap it back shut by way of its magnetic closure and you’re good to go, carrying it across the body (or over your shoulder) with its adjustable leather strap.

Part of Givenchy’s Pre-Fall 2017 collection, the 23 cm by 15 cm leather bag is priced at SGD1350, which is a pretty good price point considering luxury bags these days easily cross the SGD2000 mark. But before you get all excited, do note that the Duetto will be only be launched worldwide come 15 June 2017. Save the date, head down on the 15th and who knows, you might end up making sweet music with this little number.
